When it comes to Irish pubs in Brew City, you really love County Clare. The Lower East Side hotel bar and restaurant has nabbed the title of best Irish bar, as voted by OnMilwaukee.com, for nigh upon a decade now.
Paddy’s – which last year fell back a bit, clocking in at third – has regained its traditional position as runner-up. Paddy’s once again nabs the editor’s pick. Interestingly, The Irish Pub makes its top five debut this year.
It's not hard to see why we love these two very different places. County Clare, 1234 N. Astor St., is also a small inn and serves some great authentic food, including Irish root soup, shepherd's pie and a mean corned beef and cabbage. With one corner home to a toast fireplace and couches and a space open for regular live music, County Clare rarely feels cramped (except, of course, on St. Patrick's Day).
Paddy's, 2339 N. Murray Ave., on the other hand, feels more like your Irish friend's living room. It has a great patio for use during the summer months, too, that has become one of the East Side's best gathering places during warm weather.
OnMilwaukee.com editors' pick: Paddy’s Pub

2. Paddy's Pub
