"Bar Month" at OnMilwaukee.com is back for another round! The whole month of February, we're serving up intoxicatingly fun bars and club articles -- including guides, unique features, drink recipes and more. Grab a designated driver and dive in!

The votes are in and the winners have been selected for OnMilwaukee's Best: Bars & Clubs, 2009. The results of this readers' poll, including an editors' pick, are available in this series of articles that run all month long in the Bars and Clubs section of OnMilwaukee.com.

During last year's Best Of readers' poll, OnMilwaukee.com fans voted The Social as the best bar in Walker's Point. This year, it seems preferences have changed, as sadly, The Social closed its doors in early January after being open for more than eight years at two locations in the neighborhood.

With The Social gone, Milwaukeeans voted one of the area's newcomers, The Bomb Shelter, as their new favorite. The Bomb Shelter opened a year ago at 1517 S. 2nd St., in the space formerly inhabited by The Monkey Bar.

If you haven't been yet, The Bomb Shelter is a fun place. It's a beer-centric bar that pays tribute to the classic corner varieties that flourished during a time when locally-brewed beer seeped from the city's pores.

So, of course you'll find all the classics - Blatz, Schlitz, Pabst and Miller -- but the bar also won Best Beer List in this year's poll thanks to its 187 or so selections.
