There are a lot of people that I’ve had the opportunity to interview multiple times in my career, but Brad Hicks of FOX 6 News has been the one that I’ve talked to most often. His regular guest spots were fun to be a part of and listen to, but they were also quite revealing. Brad is the kind of guy that you learn something different about with every new conversation.

It was April 12, 2007, that Brad was first featured as a guest on the Kramp and Adler morning show. I would frequently imitate his delivery on that show and once Fox 6 caught wind of the playful impressions I did they asked if Brad could join the show for fun. No obligations, no money, no advertising dollars were traded, rather it was just good conversation that occurred when he was on. We hit it off and for the past 6 years he has always been someone I’d considered a friend and a good human being.

Brad has been regularly asked to be a part of charity events and he has been more than generous with his time, but he says it’s most rewarding for him to find organizations and events that become a regular thing for him each year, rather to be spread so thin.

Brad had a niece that passed away from Lymphoma when she was 15 and since then he has been helping the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society by donating his time to bike and emcee the Scenic Shore 150. He also donates his time to City Slickers – a fundraiser for the David Sherman Cancer Center at Wheaton Franciscan, Vince Lombardi Charitable Funds, Goodwill's Ability Connection, and to the ALS Association to help fight Lou Gehrig’s disease. A disease Brad knows all to well because his brother Jim struggles with ALS every day.

This Friday, July 19, Brad with help shut out ALS at the Chasin’ A Cure tailgate party at Miller park before the Brewers game. For $50 you can enjoy a private tailgate party featuring a concert by Chasin' Mason, an ALS tshirt, a famous Sobelman burger and your choice of Jimmy Luv's Bloody Mary, Miller beer or soda. To purchase tickets call (262) 784-5257 or e-mail info@alsawi.org.

In today's Kramp Cast I catch up with Brad Hicks of Milwaukee's FOX 6 News and talk about how he became one of my favorite guests, his passion for yoga and how it has helped him be a better newscaster, plus we talk about his brother who lives with ALS and the Chasin' A Cure benefit that happens this Friday July 19 at Miller Park. Enjoy!
