Brandi Carlile live in concert is an absolute force one must experience. I’ve had the pleasure to have seen her since she was an opening act for The Avett Brothers. Watching her grow and become such a powerful songwriter and musician has been a pleasure.
Her nearly sold-out concert Thursday in Madison at Breese Stevens Field put this power on display.
Fresh off a run of shows opening for P!nk and flanked by longtime band members and friends – the twins Phil and Tim Hanseroth, Seattle drumming powerhouse Matt Chamberlain of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, Milwaukee's own SistaStrings – Carlile blazed through a 18-song set filled with hits picked from many of her albums as well as a few great covers, such as a stirring solo performance of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow." Her joy flowed off the stage and was contagious. You could not help but feel good watching her smile from the stage.
Toward the end of the show she stated "What an amazing crowd Madison. This is one we won't soon forget!" Same for us, Brandi.
And to help us remember, here are some images from the show:
