The weather is (slightly) starting to warm up, and Milwaukee’s summer concert calendar is certainly about to begin filling up as well. On Monday morning, Summerfest added to the festivities by announcing Brittany Howard with The War and Treaty for the opening night of the 2024 festival lineup on Thursday, June 20.

Howard has long been known for her soulful vocals and commanding presence, as both the frontwoman of Alabama Shakes and later as a solo artist. Monday’s announcement comes on the heels of the “What Now” tour announcement, which also includes two dates next week in Chicago at Thalia Hall. She also just released a new single, “Prove It To You,” on Friday. The tour includes stops at Bonnaroo and the Austin Blues Festival before touching down in Milwaukee.

Howard and The War and Treaty are the third show announced for the BMO Pavilion for the 2024 festival run, with Mt. Joy announced last week, and Latin music superstar-in-the-making Ivan Cornejo also previously revealed. In addition to the festival dates, Willie Nelson will play the smaller of the two amphitheaters on the festival grounds on May 18.

Tickets for Brittany Howard and The War and Treaty at BMO Pavilion will go on sale this Friday via Ticketmaster and the Summerfest website. Free first-come, first-served seating will also be available on the day of the show. Visit the Summerfest website for more details.

We’re inching closer and closer to the full Summerfest lineup reveal, so stay tuned to OnMilwaukee for more updates as we find out more about the 2024 edition of the Big Gig!
