Café Benelux, the latest effort of the Lowlands Group, will open Thursday June 9 at 346 N. Broadway in the Third Ward.  The June 9 date is just a few days after an opening date that was announced on Facebook several weeks ago.  Lowlands Group secured the former Good Harvest Market space in August 2010.

The bar will offer more than 200 bottled and 30 draft beers, a large number of them Belgian imports and Belgian-style ales. Customers will be able to take advantage of streetside dining areas and a rooftop deck with room for up to 120 people.

Regulars at other Lowlands Group establishments will see familiar items on the menu, including bitterballen, mussels and frites and new items like pannenkoeken and poutine. Cafe Benelux will be open for breakfast daily at 7 a.m. (8 a.m. on weekends) with a full menu available every day until midnight.

In addition to the bar and restaurant, the Benelux Market will offer imported meats, cheeses, biers and collectibles from Lowland Europe; coffee, tea and chocolates – both imported and from local companies such as Alterra, Rishi and Indulgence Chocolatiers; glassware and merchandise from some well-loved Belgian breweries; books on the region, biking and bier; and proprietary Lowlands Group merchandise. The market will also feature an extensive grab and go area with sandwiches, salads, snacks, coffee, and drinks.

The market, a tenant of the Milwaukee Public Market, will open daily at 7 a.m. and parking will be available at the Public Market's lot.
