Heritage Preservation, a national non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of the United States, has chosen the Charles Allis Art Museum to be part of the 2011 Conservation Assessment Program.

CAP grants provide small museums with funding to hire professional conservation and preservation specialists to assess their conservation needs and receive recommendations to help further preserve their collections.

The Charles Allis Museum chose UW-Milwaukee Professor of Architecture and Art History Nancy Hubbard for its building assessment and Elisa Redman of the Midwest Conservation Center to assess its collection. Both conservators will survey the museum and report back on any improvements that can be made to the collection, care procedures and environmental conditions.
