Camp Randall Stadium is typically all red and white on a Wisconsin Badgers gameday. However, for one night next year, it will feel all “Yellow,” as British rockers Coldplay announced over the weekend that they’ll play the stadium’s first concert in 28 years.

It all started on Saturday afternoon, as the Badgers were beating Purdue in what would ultimately be a 52-6 drought. However, the stadium jumbotron over the students’ section announced that Camp Randall would host a concert in 2025, for the first time in nearly three decades, since the Rolling Stones played there on the “Bridges To Babylon” tour in 1997.

Then, on Sunday night, Madison-based Frank Productions released the following video on Instagram:

Fresh off of the release of their new album, “Moon Music” on Sunday, and a Saturday Night Live appearance just before that, it was revealed that Coldplay will play Madison in 2025, with tour dates expected to be released on Tuesday morning. 

The 2025 show is just the ninth concert at Camp Randall Stadium, and Coldplay are only the sixth act  to ever headline there. Only Pink Floyd, Genesis, U2, and The Rolling Stones have had their names highest on the marquee at the Madison football stadium, and all except Genesis have played there twice. Duke Ellington and his orchestra first played the stadium in 1972, as part of a celebration initiated by Governor Patrick J. Lucey.
