Simone Gaspar opened Copper Robin earlier this month in Wauwatosa, 6519 W. North Ave. She describes her new spot as "a modern lifestyle collective highlighting woman-owned brands" that sells giftables, woman-distilled spirits, candles, accessories, home wares and art for all genders.
"I wanted to create a space where people could shop for boutique-quality items without breaking the bank," says Gaspar. "I have spent an extensive amount of time searching out products with a story that are accessible and inclusive to everyone."
Copper Robin carries brands from local, national and international artists and makers.
"I wanted to be able to offer a diverse product portfolio that isn't just limited to what's local. All products that I carry are from woman-owned brands," says Gaspar.
The name is a nod to the Wisconsin state bird, the robin, and one of Gaspar's three dogs, Copper, whose photo hangs in the shop.
Copper Robin will soon offer community classes such as tarot reading, illustration and cocktail curation.
Currently, the hours are limited and updated on Instagram. Starting Sept. 29 the hours will be Thursday-Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with plans to expand later in the year.
"It's such a cliche reason but I love shopping, and I wanted to create a shop for people like myself," says Gaspar. "Everything we carry are products with a story that are accessible and inclusive to everyone."
