Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele today announced that work has been completed in the Desert Dome at the Mitchell Park Conservatory, and that the third and final Dome will reopen to the public this Saturday, Oct. 29 – about a week ahead of schedule.

In addition to visiting the newly reopened Desert Dome, guests can experience a stroll through the country in the Show Dome, where the farm-like setting includes scarecrows, cornstalks and hay bales, as well as a pumpkin patch. Guests can also take a break from the cooler temperatures outside by warming up in the Tropical Dome, where the humid air, bird calls and lush foliage replicate a tropical rainforest.

"Thanks to the hard work of county staff, volunteers, our contractor Masonry Restoration and our consultants, we were able to open the Show Dome ahead of schedule, have reopened the Tropical Dome and are now reopening the Desert Dome ahead of schedule," County Executive Chris Abele said. "People have been loving the fall show in the Show Dome and are looking forward to enjoying all three Domes over the holiday season and beyond."

County Executive Abele also announced that a grand reopening celebration sponsored by a generous donation from Northwestern Mutual is being planned for Dec. 1.
