Season's eatings! The weather may be getting colder, but Dining Month on OnMilwaukee is just cooking up, dishing out your winning picks in this year's Best of Dining poll. Dining Month is brought to you by Fein Brothers, your premier food service equipment and supply dealer in Wisconsin since 1929. Congratulations to all of the winners, and happy eating for all those who voted!

I’d heard so much hype about Cielito Lindo, hearing things like it was the best Mexican food and best late night eats in the city. Well, I visited the Walker's Point staple and I can definitely confirm that the food was tasty – and the restaurant is definitely open late. (I wouldn’t know how the food tastes late at night, however, as I went there around 6:30 p.m. on a Saturday. Another visit must be in store!) I wasn't informed, however, about how speedy the service is at the eatery.

I love the aesthetically pleasing decorations in the building. Cielito Lindo means "pretty sky" in Spanish, so the ceiling is painted in a beautiful blue, with white, fluffy clouds to match the name. Mexican sombreros and other decor is hung around the restaurant, while colorful murals on the walls and the bar – which resembles a gazebo – help you really feel transported to Mexico inside this diner.

I ordered the burrito dinner, which came to my table in mere minutes and was very filling. It comes with a flour tortilla burrito stuffed with your choice of meat (chicken, pork or ground beef), refried beans, lettuce, tomato and sour cream. I chose pork, which was cooked to a great, chewy texture and shredded inside the burrito. I thought there could be a little less lettuce and more meat and tomato, maybe some more beans as well, but the burrito was still very tasty with the help of the sour cream to blend all the ingredients together.

The whole thing is served with beans and rice on the side, with the former coming with shredded cheese on top – a delicious addition. Amazingly, I was out of the restaurant in 30 minutes from arrival, making it almost fast food but infinitely better.

Cielito Lindo is open Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. until 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 8 a.m. until 4 a.m., and Sunday 8 a.m. until 11 p.m. Large group seating is available, which makes the restaurant perfect for your whole squad late on a Saturday night or on for a quick brunch to recover the next day.
