After being left off Nashville's roster to start the season, Milwaukee Admirals forward – and Predators playoff hero – Frederick Gaudreau was called up to the NHL on Tuesday. 

The promotion comes after Nashville placed defenseman Yannick Weber, who was hit in the head during a game last week, on injured reserve.

Gaudreau was a surprise postseason sensation for the Predators last June, when he became just the second player in league history to score his first three NHL goals in the Stanley Cup Final, which Nashville lost to Pittsburgh. Gaudreau’s path to pro hockey was uncommon, to say the least, so last month we profiled him as he waited to learn if he would start the season in the NHL.

During his short stint with the Admirals this year, Gaudreau was tied for the team lead in assists (3) and points (4). In 2016-17, he posted 48 points (25 goals, 23 assists) in 66 games with Milwaukee. Over 187 career AHL games, Gaudreau has 105 points (45 goals, 60 assists).

In a corresponding roster move, the Admirals recalled defenseman Frederic Allard, who made his professional debut last weekend, from the Norfolk Admirals (ECHL).
