We all have a favorite book from when we were little. Whether yours is "Harold and the Purple Crayon," "Where the Wild Things Are," "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" or something completely different, you surely spent hours imagining yourself in that other world.

Imagination is a powerful, wonderful thing, especially when we’re young – so what happens when the world you’ve imagined for so long suddenly springs into existence right before your very eyes? Wonder, awe and a great learning experience, of course!

Sheboygan's Bookworm Gardens is an imaginative, independent nonprofit organization that makes this experience a reality for kids in Wisconsin, day in and day out. The space, a beautiful botanic garden, is inspired by "children's literature, the natural world and the imagination" and gives children of all backgrounds a chance to experience some of the elements of their favorite stories in real life.

The Gardens opened in 2010. The journey to actually open Bookworm was not easy and was 10 years in the making. Now, nine years later, it inspires an impressive amount of people each year. There are over 70 different gardens on the property, each inspired by its own story, serving over 80,000 visitors each year.

Like any great place, Bookworm Gardens is ran by a group of very determined and passionate people.
