Taking mom out for Mother’s Day brunch (or dinner) has become a tradition for many. As a result, you can take your pick of destinations throughout the city that will be serving up Mom-worthy offerings.

This list gives you a list of spots to do just that, as well as a few other food-related ideas that veer off the usual path.

1. Brunch it up

Mother’s Day and brunch go together like eggs and bacon. In fact, deciding where to go is probably the toughest part. Fortunately, we’ve got a list of the top brunch spots in the city ready for your consideration. Looking for something to do afterward?  
Take mom shopping at the Mother’s Day Market at 3rd Street Market Hall or the Milwaukee Makers Market at Ivy House;  the OR spend the day with her at the Milwaukee County Zoo (they offer free admission for mothers from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m)!

Looking for a brunch that falls squarely out of the ordinary? Dandan will be rolling out a special dim sum brunch menu for Mother’s Day.  Offerings will include cumin lamb dumplings; shrimp and lobster shu mai; steamed BBQ pork bao; tempura fried oyster mushrooms; lap cheong sausage mantou; steamed japanese eggplant; turnip cake and Chinese egg custard. Fan favorite dim sum dishes such as short rib and foie gras potstickers, crab rangoon, Sichuan pork dumplings and smashed cucumbers will also be served.

Give mom the gift of an hour-long wine, cheese and chocolate pairing experience from the experts at Indulgence Chocolatiers. Tickets are $38 per person and reservations are required.

Wednesday, May 10 tastings will take place at both the Walker’s Point and Brookfield locations, with seatings available at 5:30 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. Brookfield will also hold in-person tastings on Friday, May 12 with seatings available at 5:30 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. Call to make your reservation.

Prefer to celebrate with Mom at home?  A virtual wine, cheese and chocolate pairing class will also be available on Friday May 12 at 8 p.m. The cost is $85 per kit (enough for four people). Pairing kit pick-up is available the day before and the day of the pairing class at both our Walkers Point and Brookfield locations (you can indicate your pick up location when you make the reservation). Then tune into Facebook at 8 p.m. on the day of the pairing to taste along (or watch the video at a later date). Call the Walker's Point location to make your reservation.

Taking Mom to MOVIDA is already a chance to escape Milwaukee in favor of a culinary expedition to Spain. But this year, the popular Walker’s Point restaurant is stepping things up a notch by giving you a chance to take an actual trip to Spain. Book a Mother’s Day dinner reservation at MOVIDA between Monday, May 8 and Sunday, May 14 and you’ll be entered to win two $500 airline gift cards to cover the cost of a trip to Spain with your Mom. One entry per reservation is allowed per day; canceled or no-show reservations will not be eligible for the drawing.
