The Brewers had a glimmer of good news on the injury last weekend when injured pitchers Ben Sheets and Tomo Ohka faced hitters in a "live" batting practice session. The good news was tempered, at least from a fan's perspective, when MLB.com reporter Adam McCalvy wrote this story about shortstop J.J. Hardy's lingering ankle problem.

Hardy's sprained ankle apparently has healed, but he's having a tendon problem that could require season-ending surgery. Even if he makes it back to the field this year, he may end up going under the knife this winter. It's a tough break for Hardy, who missed most of the 2004 season with a shoulder injury.
