The Pasta Tree Restaurant & Wine Bar, 1503 N. Farwell Ave., is launching a particularly cheesy and delicious special this April to raise funds for a cure for childhood cancer.

“One of my best childhood friends passed away from cancer,” says Chef Suzzette Metcalfe, owner of The Pasta Tree. “She had symptoms throughout our childhood years that were never properly diagnosed. So, raising money to fight for a cure for childhood cancer definitely hits a chord with me.”

Throughout the month of April, diners who visit the restaurant can choose from three different varieties of “MACC & Cheese”. For every bowl purchased, The Pasta Tree will donate $5 to the MACC Fund.

Options include:

  • Seven Cheese MACC & Cheese: featuring Romano, Pecorino, Parmesan, Smoked Mozzarella, Asiago and Gorgonzola cheeses topped with toasted breadcrumbs ($24).
  • Truffle MACC & Cheese: featuring Parmesan, Reggiano, Mozzarella, truffle pecorino, black truffles and truffle oil garnish breadcrumbs ($32).
  • Pesto MACC & Cheese: featuring sun dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, kalamata olives, Romano, Parmesan, Reggiano, Mozzarella and Asiago ($26).

“As a chef, I’ve always donated time and gift cards to various organizations. But now, as time moves on, I’ve found myself focusing on causes that are truly meaningful to me. In this case, this is our way of bringing the community together, creating awareness and raising funds… one bowl of mac & cheese at a time.”

The Pasta Tree is open Wednesday through Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. Reservations can be made online.
