After a five-year hiatus, 88Nine's Fall Ball returns with an evening of rooftop music, drinks, food, community comaraderie and possible embarrassment for me. (More on that later.)

88Nine's Fall Ball takes place Saturday, Sept. 14 from 5:30 p.m. to midnight at Radio Milwaukee, 220 E. Pittsburgh Ave. in Walker's Point. All proceeds directly support Radio Milwaukee and its programming.

The evening will start on the buiding's rooftop with drinks and appetizers and end with an all-request 88Nine DJs dance party.

In the middle of the event, "Karaoke for a Cause" will feature 10 singers performing karaoke on stage with a live band in the Radio Milwaukee performance space. This is where my potential embarrassment comes in. My rusty singing pipes and I are one of the singers, and despite having a few jittery nerves, I am excited to belt out a song that's been on my karaoke bucket list for a while.

Here is the schedule at a glance:

  • 5:30 p.m.  – VIP Rooftop Reception
  • 6:30 p.m. – Rooftop Reception
  • 8:30 p.m.  – Karaoke for a Cause
  • 10 p.m. – 88Nine DJ Request Party

So grab your tickets now and let's have some end-of-summer fun while celebrating a one-of-a-kind Milwaukee institution!
