"Bar Month" at OnMilwaukee is brought to you by Miller Brewing Company, calling Milwaukee home since 1855. For the entire month of March, we're serving up fun articles on bars, clubs and beverages – including guides, the latest trends, bar reviews, the results of our Best of Bars poll and more. Grab a designated driver and dive in!

Lakefront Brewery

For the first time, our Bar Month survey asked for your favorite craft brewery in Brew City. Breweries have been popping up left and right throughout Milwaukee over the past few years, making finding a place for a tasty drink easy, but making this decision awfully hard.

Or apparently not, as OnMilwaukee voters overwhelmingly selected Lakefront Brewery, beating out the closest runner-up by 500 votes. It seems people can't resist Lakefront's impressive variety of brews, comedic yet informative tour guides and its "My Turn" series.

The OnMilwaukee editors, on the other hand, had a different brewery in mind: Enlightened Brewery. Recently opened in Bay View. Enlightened has quality craft beers, from year-round favorites like Cream City Brix to seasonal specialties like Sustained Thought.

Whether you go to Lakefront, Enlightened or any of the other fine nominees, however, you can't go wrong with the craft brews in Milwaukee.

OnMilwaukee editors' pick: Enlightened Brewery

Runners up:
2. Milwaukee Brewing Company
3. Good City Brewing Company
4. Raised Grain Brewing Company
5. MobCraft

This year we also asked a variety of prominent Milwaukeeans to weigh in on their pick for specific categories. For this category, we consulted Shaun Ridder from iHeartRadio and a member of FM 106's new morning show, "Ridder, Scott and Shannen."

Ridder's pick: Lakefront Brewery

It’s tough to pick just one as the best. They are all are doing so many great things. Good City is the new rising star that everyone needs to check out. But it’s too hard to beat what Lakefront has been doing for years and continues to build on.  The "My Turn" series alone makes them one of the best breweries. Not only are those beers limited one-offs, but the recipes are designed by employees at the brewery. From the guy running the bottle line to someone in marketing, everyone has a chance to put their stamp on the product rolling out of the brewhouse. That’s what craft beer is all about: creativity and having pride in what you’re making.
