In 1968, six couples living in the Milwaukee area started one small, local youth soccer organization called the Milwaukee Kickers. Today, 50 years later, it is one of the largest and most respected youth soccer organizations in the country with 8,500+ youth members ages 3-18 across 15 regions in southeastern Wisconsin.

In recognition of that amazing accomplishment, the Milwaukee County Historical Society will be awarding the club with its Anniversary Accolade Award at its Annual Awards Dinner on Wednesday, May 9 at The Pfister Hotel. The award recognizes corporations, nonprofit organizations, civic, and educational institutions celebrating significant anniversaries.

The award will be accepted at the event by one of the club’s co-founders, Aleks Nikolic, in front of guests including many of the club’s other founders including his wife Helga Nikolic, Milan Nikolic, Irene Nikolic, Lorenzo Draghicchio, Carol Draghicchio, Dorothy Kral and Louise Dray.

"It will be an honor and pleasure to accept the award on behalf of our club that has left such a positive, lasting and unforgettable impression on our community," said Aleks Nikolic.

The club will celebrate with its past and present players, parents, coaches, managers, volunteers, board members, founders, donors and sponsors at a special celebratory 50th MKSC Anniversary event on Saturday, June 9th at Uihlein Soccer Park.
