Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Recycling Specialist Rick Meyers announced a new single-sort recycling system and new acceptable recycling materials today.
Under the new guidelines, Milwaukee residents will no longer have to separate recyclables for pickup. The City of Milwaukee will also begin accepting No. 4 and No. 5 plastics, as well as bulky No. 2 plastics, cartons and metal pots and pans.
The new changes go into effect today as part of the city's Recycle for Good program. Details about the changes and other recycling guidelines are available on the City of Milwaukee's recycling webpage, where residents can also take the recycler pledge to keep their neighborhoods green.
