There's a new string of mystery billboards popping up along I-94.

I've seen two so far, both featuring neon green text on a black background. The first reads "Your shadow never leaves you," and the second displays "Your character is your fate."

The latter sentence has connections to "Oedipus Rex," but my searches haven't turned up anything on the former. My call to Clear Channel, the people in charge of the digital signs' ad content, informed me that the billboards are currently anonymous as per contract.

With no other choice but to stay tuned, I'm still left curious (which is, obviously, the whole point). Some of you might remember the Potawatomi Bingo Casino ad series with the mysterious key billboards, which ended up creating extensive buzz for the promotion it later unveiled. I remember all too well - I was hooked the whole time. While it was both cool and innovative, I had higher hopes that it'd be something more than just a promo campaign.

Could this be another Potawatomi Bingo Casino PR brainchild? I'm not so sure. The branding isn't their style. So, who else? Another business? A loaded recluse with a desire to spread cryptic words of wisdom?

What do you think? More importantly, what do you know about it? I'm a sucker for a good intrigue.

Contrary to her natural state of being, Renee Lorenz is a total optimist when it comes to Milwaukee. Since beginning her career with OnMilwaukee.com, her occasional forays into the awesomeness that is the Brew City have turned into an overwhelming desire to discover anything and everything that's new, fun or just ... "different."

Expect her random musings to cover both the new and "new-to-her" aspects of Miltown goings-on, in addition to periodically straying completely off-topic, which usually manifests itself in the form of an obscure movie reference.
