Netflix is getting into the Halloween spirit – not in a fun, spooky festive way but in an actually scary and terrifying way as the streaming service is doing its best impression of a slasher villain in the month of October, cutting tons of noteworthy movies and TV shows. 

Disappointingly, many of those films getting the axe are those most appropriate for the spookiest time of the year. The critically lauded cult horror flick "The Babadook" will be killed off in the middle of the month along with the horror movie anthology "V/H/S 2." And on the very first day of the month, "Curse of Chucky," "Let Me In," "The Lost Boys," "Red Dragon" and "Scream 2" will all be sacrificed. But who watches scary movies during October anyway ... oh wait. 

The first two "Human Centipede" films will also be sliced off Netflix's library, but there's never really a good time to watch either of those – regardless of the season.

Even if you're not a scary movie person, you've got plenty to be horrified by on this month's list of victims. The underseen coming-of-age comedy "Adventureland" will go on its last ride on Netflix, along with the underrated Steven Spielberg animated jaunt "The Adventures of Tintin," Paul Thomas Anderson's breakthrough "Boogie Nights," Stanley Kubrick's final film "Eyes Wide Shut" and Spike Lee's sneaky heist movie masterpiece "Inside Man" – and that's just the first day of October. There's plenty more to get murdered off Netflix as the month goes on, including the beautiful animated adventure "Kubo and the Two Strings."
