I used up all my "Game of Thrones"-inspired, "the sky is falling" panicking in my Netflix June departures piece. So let's keep it smiles with today's newly released lineup of arrivals to the Big Red Streaming Monolith, which seems like even fewer theatrical releases than usual and even more anonymous Netflix Originals that you'll never hear about after this announcement. (Remember, Matt; we're being positive. Positive!)

Jokes aside, while June's lineup may seem a little skimpy on outside releases, its picks are solid. Two of the best movies of the last two years – "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" and "20th Century Women" – will hop onto the streaming service, joined by some all-time retro classics including "Network," "Platoon," "Carrie" and "Cabaret." Christopher Nolan's first two Batman movies will return to Netflix for approximately the seventeenth time in the last two years, while animated hits "The Grinch" and "Ralph Breaks the Internet" will keep the kids occupied and inside during the beautiful summer weather.

And while many of the Netflix Originals on this list may sound like word jumbles Netflix CCO Ted Sarandos just picked out of a hat (Happy! Positive! Smiles! Not thinking about Disney+!), there are still several Big Red Streaming Monolith A-listers amongst the crowd. That includes a new Adam Sandler movie – though its very generic name, "Murder Mystery," does not inspire confidence that it's not just another lazy vacation for Sandler and company – a new collection of "Black Mirror" episodes to make you look at your iPhone with suspicion, a new and likely final season of "Jessica Jones," and a Bob Dylan concert film from none other than Martin Scorsese.

See, so much excitement! Disney+, Warner Bros. and NBCUniversal will definitely not poach all of the shows people actually watch on this streaming service! The future is bright and Netflix red! Get jazzed for the third season of "The Missing" and a new season of a cancelled Kiefer Sutherland show; that's definitely enough to keep this train running! Woo!

Anyways, here's the full lineup of movies and television shows coming to Netflix in June.

Matt Mueller Culture Editor

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
