We may be entering the lazy days of summer, but judging by their newly released lineup of new arrivals in August, it doesn't appear that's the case for Netflix.
The Big Red Streaming Monolith will be busy next month, with an impressive supply of new movies and TV shows. Christopher Nolan's mind-bending blockbuster "Inception" will BWAAAM its way back onto your big screen in August, along with fellow Oscar nominees "Catch Me If You Can," "Magnolia" and "Seabiscuit." For those in need of some new discoveries, keep an eye on the indie gems "The Edge of Seventeen" and "The Machinist," two very different movies – one a coming-of-age comedy, the other a grim psychological thriller – but both very much worth a binge. And for comfort food, the throwback classics "Ferris Bueller" and "My Girl" will blast from the past onto the streaming service.
And while most of the other studio-run streaming services have claimed their biggest TV shows back, Netflix managed to finagle two hits – "30 Rock" and "Friday Night Lights" – back into its collection. For now.
As for originals, romance will be in the air with the teen rom-com "The Kissing Booth 3" and the gender-swapped, TikTok-starring, hatewatch-ready "He's All That." For those craving action in August, Netflix will also supply the Jason Momoa punch-up "Sweet Girl" along with "Beckett," a Greek-set conspiracy thriller starring John David Washington from "Tenet." And for those who love documentaries seemingly too crazy to be real, prepare yourself for "Misha and the Wolves." (Savvy Milwaukee Film Festival fans already got on top of that one before it becomes the next big Netflix craze.)

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
