Having a regular Halloween this year may be out of the picture like the gooey inner guts of a jack-o'-lantern, but at least we still have scary movies! 

Yes, just in case 2020 hasn't been stressful enough already, Netflix will supply you with plenty of frights and freakouts this spooky season. This month's new options range from theatrical favorites – "Cape Fear," "ParaNorman" and "Unfriended," the original bad Zoom call – to "The Haunting of Bly Manor," the follow-up to 2018's scary sensation "The Haunting of Hill House." But the scariest option of all? "Hubie Halloween," the new Halloween comedy that may or may not be Adam Sandler's revenge on cinema for not nominating him for an Oscar in "Uncut Gems." Truly soul-shuddering potential there. 

Speaking of awards, the Big Red Streaming Monolith is going all in for the gold this year with multiple possible contenders across several categories in October alone: "Over the Moon" for Best Animated Feature, the festival season sensation "Dick Johnson is Dead" for Best Documentary, and both Aaron Sorkin's "The Trial of the Chicago 7" and Ben Wheatley's remake of Hitchcock's gothic romance "Rebecca" going for the big prize. And if none of these new Oscar contenders do it for you, welp, Netflix has some throwback trophy nominees recent and retro with "Carol," "Moneyball," "Her," "Fargo" and "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls" too. Wait, what do you mean "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls" wasn't nominated for anything?!

Oh, and the final season of this small Canadian show called "Schitt's Creek" will come to the streaming service in October. Apparently it's kind of a big deal. Did pretty good at the Emmy's on Sunday, I guess?
