For the sixth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by Concordia University. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2012."

Despite buzz in the local real estate industry that Pizza Man will soon reopen, former owner Mike Amidzich says, at this point, it's not happening.

Amidzich, who owned the popular East Side restaurant and bar with his former wife, Deanna, says he has been looking around for three years at various spaces but ultimately lacks investors to make it happen.

"I'd like to (reopen), but we'll see," he said during a phone conversation.

Pizza Man was destroyed by a fire in January 2010. Since then, there have been numerous Facebook posts suggesting a new location, but so far, nothing has materialized.

Do you think people lost interest in Pizza Man or would they still like to see Pizza Man resurface somewhere?

Personally, I must admit, a large part of Pizza Man's allure for me was the heart-of-the-East-Side location and the strange-but-warm, cave-like atmosphere. There was something about the giant, heavy door and the rock-hard booths and the exposed brick that really made the experience for me.

Then again, that artichoke à la mode pizza was amazing ...
