Alderwoman Chantia Lewis is thrilled to announce the Northridge parcel transfer was officially approved Tuesday by the Milwaukee Common Council. The area will be redeveloped into light industrial space. This property, transferred by Penzeys Spices owner, William Penzey, is in Alderwoman Lewis’ 9th District, and is just one of many initiatives the Alderwoman has worked on with community partners to draw business into the area.

Alderwoman Lewis said, "This is a huge milestone, we couldn’t have done it without community partner Bill Penzey. We are truly grateful to him. The City of Milwaukee is now able to make some major development strides at Northridge and across Granville. We are looking forward to all the incredible changes that will be coming to the area."

The move allows the city to begin marketing the property for redevelopment very soon – likely in early 2018. The city’s redevelopment plan for the Granville area calls for converting the former mall into light industrial space, along with developing a public plaza with neighborhood-oriented stores and restaurants near the northwest corner of West Brown Deer Road and North 76th Street.

Alderwoman Lewis said. "This is just the beginning of business increased development in the area, in the New Year we will see a whole new 9th District."

Ald. Lewis will have another major unveiling announcement on Dec. 30, from noon to 2 p.m. at 8762 N. Granville Rd.
