February is "Bar Month" at OnMilwaukee.com, and we'll serve up more than a six pack a week of bar articles all month long. Look for bartender profiles, drink recipes, revamped bar guides and more!

By now, you've probably read our OnMilwaukee.com's favorite drinking spots story.  Gotta love Bar Month!  Here are a few more thoughts and a list of some of my favorite haunts.

Favorite lounge?
The definition is evolving, is it not?  But, this is Milwaukee and we still have the luxury to kick it old school.  At Random is and always will be the lounge leader in the Mil. New school style? Hands down, Clear at the new Intercontinental Hotel Downtown.

Dive bar?
Marquette cleared out many of my favorite dive bar haunts, but Conway's, 2127 W. Wells St., still remains.  Many locals still hang there, but now there's music and college kids.  Tosa's Club Tap also comes to mind, but it's more of a corner bar than a true dive.

Favorite bar to tie one on (now or in the past)?
I miss the Brown Bottle and, again, my MU joints like Green Tree, The 'Lanche and of course O.D.'s.  College was the time to try tie one on and that we did.  But now if I need to drink hearty, I chose something in the neighborhood -- the bar at Calderone Club never disappoints.  For afternoon drinking Von Trier is always good and late nights at The Swinging Door are still the same as when my dad used to drink there.

Drink of choice?
I try very hard to stay true to Miller.  Peroni Nastro Azzurro, Pilsner Urquell and MGD.  But, I must admit Beck's Premier Light is my beer of choice today.  It's crisp, clean and true to its origins.

Favorite spot to see live music?
Does the Pabst Theater count?  It does have a bar, the Cudahy Pub.  And there's something about seeing Sigmund Snopek at The Nomad that just says Milwaukee.

All-time favorite Milwaukee bar (can still be open or long gone)?
Wow.  I loved the old John Hawk's Pub (where Ardor is now) and O.D.'s at MU has many memories.  But, for current times, nothing beats a Bitburger and pop corn at Von Trier.
