The Historic Third Ward Association is bringing back its popular outdoor jazz festival, Summer Sizzle, as a one-day event on Saurday, Aug. 7.
Canceled last year due to lack of sponsorship, Summer Sizzle will run one day from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. In addition to four stages of jazz it will feature shopping, food, beverages and a second line brass band parade.
The event will extend to two additional "Sizzlin' Saturdays" on June 19 and July 17 along Broadway between St. Paul and Buffalo. These new Sizzlin' Saturdays will transform the already vibrant Broadway into an outdoor market with antiques, clothing, produce, jewelry, fresh flowers, local art, activities for children, live jazz, breakfast stations, wood-fired pizzas and more.
Music acts have yet to be announced. Past performers have included Kevin Eubanks, Herbie Mann, Chris Botti, T.S. Monk, NILS, Delfeayo Marsalis, Jeff Lorber, Terence Blanchard, Steve Cole and others.
