The Pressroom MKE, 3105 W. Forest Home Ave., will host a special autograph signing event on Saturday, July 20 at 5:30 p.m. Three former National Football League players will be in the bar and ready to meet fans: Dujuan Harris (Green Bay Packers), John Clay (Wisconsin Badgers; Pittsburgh Steelers) and Brian Calhoun (Wisconsin Badgers; Detroit Lions).
The players will appear at the Waukesha County Fair earlier in the day and will head over to The Pressroom MKE afterwards.
Fans can bring items to get autographed for $25, or buy items and get them autographed for free. Pressroom will have shot giveaways and $5 rail specials.
Pressman co-owner Robert Holmes is an avid football enthusiast who is originally from Memphis, Tenn. He grew up rooting for the Steelers, but adopted the Packers as his second favorite team after living and working in Milwaukee for many years.
For three decades, Holmes was a press operator – and later in his career as a supervisor – for the Milwaukee Journal and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. He opened The Pressroom MKE with his wife, co-owner Lisa, in 2022.
Holmes hopes this is the first of a series of "corner tavern" autograph events. It was created in partnership with King and King Productions.
Former Packers player Santana Dotson stopped by the bar recently and chatted with customers. This sparked the idea for Holmes to offer casual but pre-planned meet and greets with other professional atheletes.
"Players never come to neighborhood bars for signings that I know of. We are trying to change this," says Holmes. "You will get to meet and talk to the players like never before at a local corner bar."
