AIDS Walk Wisconsin, a fundraiser and 5K run on Milwaukee's Lakefront on Oct. 12, has announced that Emmy award-winning television host and fashion guru Tim Gunn will serve as its 2014 Honorary Chair.
Mr. Gunn is co-host of Lifetime Network’s "Project Runway."
"I am delighted to be named Honorary Chair of AIDS Walk Wisconsin and this is tremendously meaningful to me," said Gunn on aidswalk.org. "We need to strengthen the fight against AIDS, and I know that AIDS Walk Wisconsin will keep the state a national leader in helping people with HIV live long, healthy lives."
To help raise pledges for AIDS Walk Wisconsin, Gunn will participate in an online auction that will allow the winner and a guest to attend a small, private dinner with Gunn and his associates at a Milwaukee restaurant the night before the walk.
"I am looking forward to what will be a wonderful evening with someone who cares deeply about the fight against AIDS," said Gunn. "I know Wisconsinites are caring and generous, and I am counting on these strong Midwestern values to demonstrate that in this special auction."
2014 marks the 25th anniversary of the event. Last year's chair was Stephanie Klett, secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Tourism. Past AIDS Walk Wisconsin honorary chairs include Milwaukee Brewer Ryan Braun, the Green Bay Packers' Clay Matthews, musician Bon Iver, actor Danny Glover, actress Bette Midler, and Basketball Hall of Famer Earvin "Magic" Johnson.
