Milwaukee has been named the best destination for children and their families, according to ABC Travel Guides for Kids, a producer and publisher of all-in-one alphabet, activity and souvenir guides designed for kids.

Editor Matthew Rosenberger and his family visited Milwaukee during the summer 2013 in order to research the city and its qualities, and, in the end, decided it deserved the top spot. Other cities on the list included Washington D.C., Miami, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Times Square in New York City.

"When we select our top picks for family travel we look at lodging choices, restaurants and family-friendly attractions, and Milwaukee is well positioned in all of these areas," says Rosenberger. "The energy and pride of this city are the real game-changers when it comes to sending a strong message to families that, ‘We want your family to come visit our family in Milwaukee!’"

Some attractions and locations that helped launch Milwaukee to the top are the Milwaukee Art Museum, Discovery World, the Milwaukee Public Museum, the Milwaukee Domes and the Milwaukee County Zoo. Rosenberger also mentioned the many dining options open to families during their stay in the city such as Melthouse Bistro and Palermo’s Pizza tours.

Whether it’s strolling through the Streets of Old Milwaukee at the Public Museum, checking out the pirate ship at Discovery World, or grabbing some frozen custard, Milwaukee has plenty to offer its younger visitors.
