For years, rumors claiming that a Trader Joe's was coming to town floated around the city, but it sounds like the specialty grocery store will open in the Bayshore Mall area after they complete the massive renovation.

"Bayshore Town Center officials are in ongoing negotiations with several world-class retail, restaurant and entertainment organizations. Tenants will be similar to those at Easton Town Center in Columbus, Ohio," says Ralph Ireland, vice president of development.

And yes, there is a Trader Joe's in the Easton Town Center.

Ireland released his statement after a mall employee who saw blueprints of the Bayshore Mall renovations that included a Trader Joe's tipped off OMC. Also, an assistant manager at the Trader Joe's in Arlington Heights, Ill. admitted there was going to be a chain opening in Wisconsin.

"I don't know about one opening in Milwaukee," she said. "But I know one is opening in Glendale."

Trader Joe's began in 1958 as a chain of convenience stores called "Pronto Markets” in the Los Angeles area. Currently Trader Joe's has over 200 stores in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington.
