Milwaukee County residents will receive free general admission to the Milwaukee Public Museum on the first Thursday of every month in 2014 through MPM’s new "Thank You Thursday" program beginning Jan. 2.

Milwaukee County owns the Milwaukee Public Museum facility and collections, and as a "thank you" to the County and its constituents, MPM has added this opportunity for residents to visit the museum the first Thursday of every month without charge.

MPM has extended hours on Thursdays and will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Mondays, which had been free, will become regular admission days at MPM, with Milwaukee County residents receiving the $2 discount.

Adult residents must present valid photo identification showing Milwaukee County residency to receive free admission, and children must be accompanied by an adult showing proof of residency to receive free admission.

In addition to "Thank You Thursday," Milwaukee County residents will receive a $2 discount on general admission every day and school groups in Milwaukee County will have the opportunity to visit MPM for free every weekday in September, October and November.

2014 MPM "Thank You Thursday" Schedule: Jan. 2, Feb. 6, March 6, April 3, May 1, June 5, July 3, Aug. 7, Sept. 4, Oct. 2, Nov. 6, Dec. 4.
