As someone who is allergic to dairy and attempting to survive in the cheese state of Wisconsin, I have been on a quest to find a pizza that satisfies my cravings. That quest may have finally come to an end.

Urban Beets Cafe & Juicery is a locally owned and operated raw juice bar and eatery Downtown that, as of last year, expanded in size and menu. Now offering everything from vegan pizzas to beer and wine, it's a cafe worth visiting.

If you are scared of the word "vegan," try one of their delicious pizzas – you might just get hooked. For instance, there's the veggie pesto pizza with white bean pesto, spinach, artichoke, onion, zucchini and homemade "parmesan" (made from nuts). With thin crust and tangy pesto, this is a great treat to share with a friend – or devour on your own.

Next time, I plan on trying the buffalo pizza, which includes cashew ranch, spinach, green onion, buffalo chickpeas and garlic sauce. I'm tellin' ya, don't kick this health trend until you try it!

Whether you pop in for a smoothie to go or decide to stay a while and eat in, stop by Urban Beets for a healthy meal that will feed both your cravings and a balanced body.

Located at 1401 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., Urban Beets is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As a passionate foodie and taste-tester of vegan-friendly restaurants and cafes around Milwaukee, check back throughout the summer to relish some more of my favorite finds.
