Want to help three water projects in the greater Milwaukee area?  Of course you do.  Here’s how.

MillerCoors this week announced a $80,000 donation to River Network, a national non-profit organization with more than 650 local member organizations focused on water quality and watershed protection.

As part of the third annual MillerCoors -- River Network Grant Competition, watershed grants will be awarded to six local non-profit organizations across the country.

Milwaukee’s River Revitalization Foundation is one of the six vying for the money.  So, jump here to vote now!

The finalist organization with the most votes will receive the largest grant, in the amount of $30,000.  Second place will receive a $10,000 grant and the third will receive a $5,000 grant. The remaining three finalists will each receive $3,000.

Voting ends March 20, and winners will be announced on March 24, 2011.

Another project, Boerner Botanical Gardens’ rainwater harvesting project, is in another online "battle" for funds and fame.  Rain Bird’s annual Intelligent Use of Water Awards lets you vote for worthy project.  Vote here

Also up for a Rain Bird award is Discovery World.  Its project is seeking funding to enable 300 underserved students from Southeastern Wisconsin to experience an educational day sail aboard the S/V Denis Sullivan. Vote for it here.
