The votes are in, and the winners have been selected for OnMilwaukee's Best Dining 2010. The results of this readers' poll, including an editors' pick, are available in this series of articles that run all October long during Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com.

Milwaukee is one of the great, underrated restaurant cities in the Midwest, but there is nothing like a home-cooked meal.

As passionate as they are about dining out, OnMilwaukee.com readers love to prepare food at home and they have a number of great markets at which to shop. The contest for "Best Market" has been close in the past with the Third Ward's Milwaukee Public Market prevailing in a tight race over Sendik's.

This year, however, the Public Market opened a wide lead, garnering 26 percent of the vote. Sendik's earned just under 17 percent.

The Public Market features nearly two dozen specialty food vendors, with products ranging from bread and baked goods, wine and spirits, candy, cheese, coffee, fresh produce, meat, poultry and seafood.

Sendik's -- with stores run by two branches of the Balistreri family -- now boasts locations across southeastern Wisconsin, from Franklin to Bayside, Grafton to Greenfield.
