Kringle and brandy Old Fashioneds are two of my favorite Wisconsin things. So when I heard that the Racine-based O & H Bakery – a kringle champion in my book – released a special version combining the two, I had to try it right away.

The Danish kringle is literally layer upon layer of  butter – up to 36 layers! – so adding booze to it could only make it more magical, right?

After grabbing one this morning, we put it to a taste test this afternoon.

The results? After much deliberation, we determined there is a unique art to eating this delicious concoction. While you would typically eat Kringle from the inside oval out, this piece of delectable art requires a new approach. To fully taste the distinctly Wisconsin flavor of brandy Old Fashioned, skinny strips are the best tactic. Your taste buds will get a hint of brandy, caramel and cherries plus a finish of vanilla icing and a touch of orange zest.

OnMilwaukee's Andy Tarnoff demonstrates it here:

Get your hands on one of these soon, Milwaukee. Unfortunately the closest O & H is Oak Creek, but it is well worth the 10-minute ride. Unless I buy them all first.

Carolynn Buser is one of Milwaukee's loudest and most adamant cheerleaders (don't dare try to disagree). She's the primary voice behind much of OnMilwaukee's social media and content direction, and apologizes in advance if she can be too sarcastic at times.

What else? She's a wine lover, closet trashy novel reader, beauty supplies addict and devourer of cheese (shocker for a Wisconsin born and bred girl, right?). She's also a bit of a foodie, which is a word most of you hate, we know. She works as hard as she plays - and that includes in the gym! So, you've probably seen her at one of the area's newest restaurant openings (and yes, she will share her opinions good or bad) or enjoying a cold one at a local pub.

All in all, Carolynn's a believer in positive thinking and will do her best to smack down your negative ones while writing about her city, her loves, quests and more.
