Love is in the air – but better yet, there will be new movies and TV shows in your Netflix account, as the Big Red Streaming Monolith announced its monthly list of new arrivals.

As with the previous months (and as with the rest of time considering our new, increasingly competitive streaming universe), the star here is the Netflix originals, including a second season of the science fiction blockbuster "Altered Carbon" and a sequel to the teen rom-com smash "To All the Boys I've Loved Before" – because it is the month of Valentine's Day, after all. The streaming service will also debut the highly anticipated supernatural horror show "Locke & Key," which involves various keys and numerous demons. Because, again, it is the month of Valentine's Day after all – and what screams romance like murder demons?

I'm happy to report, though, that the outside additions are pretty solid as well – something I fear I'll be able to say less and less with the upcoming debuts of HBO Max and (*suppresses laughter*) Peacock, meaning their respective studios (Warner Bros. and Universal) will likely keep much of their material under their roof instead of sharing with the Big Red Streaming Monolith. But until that comes, we've got everything from Oscar winners ("The Pianist," "Jerry Maguire") to iconic romances ("The Notebook") to cult hits ("Starship Troopers") and indie gems. (If you liked "Uncut Gems," for instance, you should definitely check out the directors' previous stressful scummy thriller, "Good Time.")

In a real change of pace for Netflix, there are even some older winners, like "The Dirty Dozen," "Dirty Harry," "Purple Rain" and all of the "Police Academy" movies – even some that I'm not even sure are real. ("Police Academy 5: Assignment: Miami Beach" is definitely fake ... right?)

I'm still not in love with Netflix's future – with the streaming world getting crowded, the Big Red Monolith may not have the deep library (especially of binge-able comfort food, like "Friends" or "The Office") to complete over time – but at least they're not breaking my heart this February with a bad lineup of new stuff. Maybe they're saving that for March. But anyways, with no further ado, here are all the new movies, TV shows and more coming to Netflix next month.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
