The Silverspot Cinema at The Corners of Brookfield is yelling "Action!" once again on movies, as the theater announced it will reopen beginning Friday, July 17 – the first of the chain's six nationwide locations to show movies again to the public.

The announcement comes just over a week after the Silverspot location reopened The S Bar, the cinema's restaurant and bar, for patio and lounge service.

"We have created a clean and safe atmosphere, so guests can enjoy entertainment, worry-free," managing partner Gonzalo Ulivi said, in a release. "Guests are eager to return to enjoy the truly unique experience that we offer, and we are delighted to welcome them back."

The theater will reopen with limited showtimes of recent hits such as "Bohemian Rhapsody," the live-action remake of "Beauty and the Beast" and "Iron Man" – all for a discounted price of $5 for a limited time. New film releases, when they arrive, will have standard ticket pricing.

Dinner service and a movie will still be on the menu as food and dishes will still be served in auditoriums, albeit from a limited menu of popular items. In order to keep transactions as contact-free as possible, orders will be made from either the Silverspot app or from in-theater servers; for those who want a menu, single-use ones will be available.

In addition to contact-free food ordering, Silverspot will enact social distancing with seating, automatically blocking off two seats (equaling more than seven feet of space) to the left and right of your group's chairs. The theater has also instituted increased cleaning and disinfecting protocols in between showtimes, hand sanitizers placed around the building, employee health screenings before shifts and mask requirements for customers when they are in the lobby, hallways and restrooms. (Masks can be removed inside the theaters for eating and drinking.)

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
