In case the past several seasons of playoff chokejobs, passive aggressive (as well as aggressively aggressive) glares at teammates and coaches, offseason antics, darkness retreats, press shenanigans and terrible fashion choices weren't enough, we have another reason to root against Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets this season: At Jack's American Pub, every time the quarterback and his new team loses this upcoming season, you win your drinks for free.
No, really. At the Brady Street sports bar, found at 1323 E. Brady St., your tab is on the house when America's most famous ayahuasca enthusiast and the New York Jets lose during this 2023-24 NFL season. And not just one person at the bar's tab, but everyone's tab at Jack's on Jets gamedays throughout the schedule.
Here's the deal: On a Jets gameday, grab a spot at Jack's American Pub and, 15 minutes before kickoff, open a new bar tab (just drinks, food is not a part of the deal) at the hotspot. Then just sit back and watch the whole game at Jack's – and if Rodgers and the Jets make like the QB's "Jeopardy" audition and fall short of victory, your bar tab is on the house.
Of course, there are some additional rules to a deal this vindictively good. For one, ties don't count – the Jets must lose the day's game. And Aaron Rodgers must be the starting quarterback for the game, so if he sits for whatever reason and Zach Wilson starts for the Jets, no one wins. (Especially the Jets.) Again, to score the free bar tab, you must be in attendance at Jack's for the entire game, and food does not qualify for the deal – nor does any top-shelf liquor. And lastly, the deal is off if the Rodgers and the Jets play at the same time as the Packers – a situation currently scheduled to happen four times throughout the season: Sept. 24, Oct. 29, Dec. 17 and Dec. 24. Because as much as we enjoy schadenfreude with a side of free booze, we like watching and rooting for the Packers more.
And there you have it! Whether you're a Green Bay fan still sour from Rodgers' melodramatic, cryptic ways and having to watch "The Pat McAfee Show" for updates, or you're a Packers fan who simply never wants to care much less see the man ever again, you now have another reason to root against the J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets this season. Everybody wins! (Well, hopefully not the Jets.)
For more information on the vindictive drink deal, check out Jack's American Pub's Facebook page. And for a team we actually like and will root for this season, stay tuned to OnMilwaukee for more Packers updates, game recaps, guides and more when The Season of Love officially kicks off on Sunday, Sept. 10.
As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
