Yes, it's unfair, but gyros in Milwaukee have a connotation as "foods to be consumed after a night of drinking."

But Greek food is oh, so much more than that.

There are plenty of choices here for Grecian cuisine, but in the end, Milwaukeeans know what they like and they love Oakland Gyros, which took 35 percent of the vote and finished well ahead of Apollo, the next leading vote-getter.

Sure, Oakland Gyros is a great place to stop after a night on North Avenue, but the inexpensive and delicious menu make it a solid choice any time.
