Tip for your Oscar predictions: Brie Larson is pretty much a lock to win Best Actress for her terrific, heartbreaking turn in "Room" (also: ignore my headline and watch "Room"). If you've been following movies, though, Larson's current moment in the spotlight comes as no surprise.

Over the past several years, she's stocked up a hefty list of impressive performances, from "21 Jump Street" to "The Spectacular Now" to especially "Short Term 12." She even managed to stand out in "Don Jon," and she only gets to speak in one scene. So for fans, this spell in the "It Girl" sun is more than due – and more than welcome.

And if you're a fan of "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" – and you should be – you know that Larson's got some singing chops as well, performing The Clash at Demonhead's cover of Metric's "Black Sheep."

But if you go even further back – past her batch of small up-and-coming roles, past her TV stints on "Community" and "The United States of Tara" and past her role as "I Need a Z-Pack Penguin" in an R-rated animated "March of the Penguins" spoof called "Farce of the Penguins," directed by, of course, Bob Saget – you come across this. 

I've tried watching this video several times now and have yet to see how it ends. Every time I try, my brain behaves like it's just seen the ghost of Ashlee Simpson/Avril Lavigne 2000s pop songs past and passes out (normally it's sometime around when the guy wearing the "Vote for Pedro" shirt shows up). Either that or I smash apart my computer out of sheer embarrassment for all involved. I've gone through a lot of computers lately. 

Indeed, back in 2005, Larson released her first – and as of writing last – album, a 13-track collection of teeny bop pop songs called "Finally Out of P.E." Much to future film fans' joy, her pop career never particularly took off as the album only sold about 4,000 copies. However, luckily – or unluckily – the music videos live on, thanks to Larson's somehow still active VEVO YouTube channel.

There are a few more videos on the channel, and I'm sure a few others scattered across the Internet if you want to fall further down this Brie Larson pop star rabbit hole.

And yeah, they're all kind of embarrassing, but remember that, in the end, it worked out great for everybody. Plus, she's still probably sold around 4,000 more albums than I have or likely ever will, and she's hardly the first beloved and awarded actor with some goofy stuff stuck forever on their resume. Isn't that right, Emma Stone, contestant on VH1's "In Search of the Partridge Family"? Or Matthew McConaughey, Gary Oldman and Tyrion Lannister, leads in the indie dwarf romantic drama "Tiptoes"? Or star of "Critters 3," Leonardo DiCaprio?

Full disclosure: It seems only fair that I mention that there's definitely a video floating around on YouTube of me reviewing "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" while wearing pajamas and being menaced by a giant chipmunk. And I don't even have the impressive roster of high-profile movie roles to make up for it.
