Allan H. "Bud" Selig, the Commissioner Emeritus of Major League Baseball, will be honored tonight with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Global Sports Summit in Aspen, Colo., a powerful gathering of franchise owners and presidents from the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, European Football and other professional sports teams.

The award will be presented at the Global Sports Summit’s Legends Dinner: A Toast to Bud Selig. Selig will be honored in the presence of his friends and other significant individuals in the sports industry: Jeremy Jacobs, Owner and Chairman of the Boston Bruins & Chairman of the NHL Board of Governors; Robert Nutting, Chairman of the Pittsburg Pirates; Jerry Reinsdorf, Chairman of the Chicago Bulls & Chicago White Sox; Fred Wilpon, Owner & Chairman of the Board for the New York Mets, and others.

Selig was originally named the commissioner of baseball in 1998. He was responsible for many substantial structural changes of the game: instant replay, interleague play, wild-card postseason format, and more.

Current Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr. named Selig commissioner emeritus in 2014. Selig’s primary role is to serve as a direct advisor to Manfred and assists with special projects.
