The Great Milwaukee Summer is HERE! Your guide to what you'll be doing, where you'll be drinking, who you'll be hearing and how you'll be getting a sweet tan this summer is on OnMilwaukee. The Great Milwaukee Summer guide is brought to you by Geis Garage Doors and Peoples State Bank

This content is in partnership with East Town Association.

There's no need to have the "Sunday scaries" this summer with the return of the Cathedral Square Market series, helping end your weekends on a rejuvenating note – whether you're shopping, stretching or singing to live music – beginning June 2.

Hosted from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Cathedral Square Park most Sundays, the marketplace will once again feature a collection of local vendors selling everything from produce to arts and crafts to your morning breakfast or brunch. (Stay tuned to the East Town Association's website for vendor lineup updates, or to apply to become a vendor yourself.) In addition to its usual vendor lineup, some markets will also center specific themes this summer with additional vendors and activities aimed on the day's particular focus – such as the pupper-centric "Dog Days of Summer" on Aug. 4 as well as a family-focused market on Aug. 18.

And for a little serenity to go along with your shopping, the Cathedral Square Market will also offer health and wellness activities throughout their Sunday sessions, with yoga courtesy of the Wisconsin Athletic Club running from 9-10 a.m. and other wellness programs taking place at 10:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

In case a vibrant and lively green space, filled with community and surrounded by the scenic Downtown skyline, on a sunny Sunday morning was somehow not enough atmosphere, the Cathedral Square Market will also showcase local music performances each day. Starting at 10:30 a.m. each market Sunday, a different Milwaukee musician will serenade the space while folks shop and snack.

Here's the musical lineup coming to the market this summer:

  • June 2 – Robin Pluer and Chris Hanson
  • June 9 – Lisa Ridgely
  • June 16 – The All-Star Supper Club Band
  • June 23 – Peter Thomas

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
