Thankfully, with the newly announced deal to reopen the government, those under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which helps 38 million people as one of America's largest safety net programs, have less to fear.

But if the government shuts down again – either later this year or further in the future – many people could be without food. If you, your family, friends or someone else you know ends up in this situation – whether because of a government shutdown or just because of an unfortunate turn in life – the food pantries in greater Milwaukee are here to help with meals.
