Boston Store is preparing for the 20th year of the semi-annual Goodwill Sale with Goodwill Industries.

During the fall sale, which will take place from Sept. 17 to Oct. 4, Bon-Ton Stores’ 273 locations will accept donations of clothing and household textiles to benefit Goodwill.

For each item donated, you receive a discount coupon for up to 25 percent off new purchases at any Boston Store, Bon-Ton, Bergner’s, Carson’s, Elder-Beerman, Herberger’s or Younkers store.

Customers can also visit MillionActsofGoodwill.com and spin the wheel for a chance to win a $100 Boston Store gift card instantly. One grand prize winner will be awarded a $1,000 Boston Store shopping spree.

The Goodwill Sale began as a local partnership with Boston Store and Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin and gradually grew to include other Goodwill agencies and stores across the United States. In 2006, the promotion expanded to all seven nameplates operated by The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc.

In 2013, the sale introduced a new donating opportunity, allowing shoppers to give $5 at any Bon-Ton register in exchange for sale coupons. The donated goods and money collected support Goodwill’s mission of helping people find jobs, build their careers and care for their families.

"Goodwill is honored to partner with Bon-Ton for the Goodwill Sale. Our 20-year relationship creates job training and placement services for people in our communities," said Jim Gibbons, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries International. "I am most inspired by the leadership and innovation our teams put in to our donation collection and cause partnership efforts, which benefit people in the communities Goodwill, Bon-Ton and its other retail brands serve."

In spring 2014, the Goodwill Sale collected more than 2.5 million pounds of clothing and textiles nationwide, with an estimated value of $10 million in revenue to fund Goodwill’s mission services.
