When I first started in Milwaukee radio I worked the overnight shift at Lazer 103. On the drive to my midnight gig, I would attempt to loosen up my voice by talking to myself in the car or even reading street signs out loud.
Sure, I would sing along to a song or two, but it always sounded like I was either just waking up or about to fall back asleep. My vocal strength was not that of a veteran DJ.
I was so concerned about how I sounded that I sometimes drank hot tea with a lemon just to loosen up my vocal cords. Over time, I became more confident while my vocal chords got stronger and it’s that strength which has allowed me to make a living off it, until now.
The moral of the story is don’t take for granted what has gotten you to where you are today. It can be taken from you at any time. Let’s see if my vocal cords and I still have the strength to carry on.
Here is another Kramp Bit for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!
