MILWAUKEE - It's nothing new for a media company to incorporate Twitter feeds into a Web site, but OnMilwaukee.com has done something completely different with its new and innovative OnMilwaukee.com Live feed on its home page.

OnMilwaukee.com Live is a "what's happening now" look at everything and everybody at the Milwaukee-based online magazine. It incorporates Tweets from staff reporters, featured events from the OnMilwaukee.com event calendar, Talkbacks from readers, promotional messages, contests, top clicks and even links to photos, movie and TV listings -- as well as every story, blog, podcast, video and brief that runs on OnMilwaukee.com.

"Making great media is about starting conversations and finding connections. OnMilwaukee.com continues to innovate with our use of Twitter and community building," said publisher Andy Tarnoff. "Our application is different because it pulls content back onto our homepage, offering a totally unique way to see everything live flowing through our Web site."

OnMilwaukee.com also announced readership for July 2010 was up 37.49 percent over July 2009.

Other site enhancements include:

  • A new, personality-driven layout for blogs.
  • A featured photo stream that showcases the site's photography.
  • An updated and enhanced event calendar with new functionality and featured event listings.
  • New blogs and content from former television journalist Mark Concannon.

OnMilwaukee.com is Milwaukee's only daily online magazine and city guide. Its mission is simple: create great media and move Milwaukee forward.
