Thanks to many dedicated people and businesses, Downtown is the heart of Milwaukee and the entire state of Wisconsin. This week, OnMilwaukee presents Milwaukee Downtown Week, sponsored, aptly, by Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21. For seven days, we will share stories, videos and photography profiling some of the neighborhood's best offerings and celebrating those who make it so great.

Milwaukee Downtown Employee Appreciation Week, by the way, runs July 31-Aug. 4, 2017.

It’s legal, I asked. Not kidding: When I order this $4.99 meal from the good people at the West Allis Cheese & Sausage Shoppe at the Milwaukee Public Market, I usually preface it with, "Is it legal for me to order off the kids menu?"

Now that the legality is cleared up, this is one of the best under $7 lunch deals in Downtown Milwaukee: grilled cheese, homemade kettle chips and a side (drum roll, please) of gummy bears. All in. $5.27 with tax.

I love the Public Market. Owned and operated by the Historic Third Ward Association, it’s buzzing Mecca of food and community. And, while West Allis Cheese & Sausage Shoppe offers several under $7 lunch options, it’s not the only vendor at the market that does.

Other Public Market options for under $7?

Saving money on lunch has never been this easy. Enjoy, and see you around Downtown.
